Supply Pricing and Logistics - To assist PICTs to achieve internationally competitive supply, efficient logistics and get fair and reasonable fuel prices Market Information and Data - To inform PICTs of prevailing world and regional fuel prices and provide real market data to support PICT petroleum price monitoring and regulation Safe, Environment and Training - Increase the capacity within PICT governments to regulate and administer petroleum related regulations and internationally accepted industry standards and that responsible officials are qualified to do their jobs to an acceptable standard Development of Alternative Fuels - Regional coordination of activities to develop known coconut resources into an economically viable biofuels industry; the expanded use of clean burning LPG and the introduction of natural gas to significantly reduce petroleum related greenhouse gas emissions and to increase PICT energy diversity and security. 2. Projects PALS - To improve demand side efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and minimise fossil fuel use by designing and implementing a Pacific appliance labelling and standards (PALS) programme for electrical appliances that is aligned with the existing standard and labelling program being delivered in Australia and New Zealand PACTVET-To enhance and/or create P-ACPs' regional and national capacity of, and technical expertise to respond to climate change adaptation (CCA) and sustainable energy (SE) challenges. GIZ- ADAPTING TO CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY (ACSE) Implementing Partners to the national projects for Kiribati, Tuvalu and FSM Kiribati – To help achieve the government target of establishing renewable energy systems in 100% of rural public and private communities across Kiribati Strengthen the capacity of Tuvalu’s outer island and rural communities’ to adapt to the adverse effects of cc and to enhance the use of appropriate biogas technologies regionally Contribute to enhancing energy security in the FSM with the focus on contributing to the national energy policy target for renewable energy and the reduction of fossil fuel use for power generation
