3 CRSSP Implementation Structure Prior structure was heavily USGS led –Senior Steering Committee, Implementation Working Group, and 4 of 5 subteams New structure will be more balanced and attempt to achieve shared execution

5 Project Scope The Commercial project was originally formed to assist in the implementation of the CRSSP Specifically, the project will: –facilitate the acquisition of commercial data –manage the storage and distribution of licensed data –promote the federal civil agency use of commercial data by facilitating interagency requirements

7 Near-Term Requirements CIDR – tool that allows: –collection and tracking of civil agency imagery requirements –analysis of similar requirements –reporting of agency requirements to commercial data providers

10 Current Commercial Holdings NGA ClearView data –The Commercial project has access to order ClearView data for specific agencies/projects at no cost –Currently as defined, ClearView licensed data in archive will need to have nominal uplift fee for general use

11 Expanding the Commercial Archive Commercial Remote Sensing Data Contracts (CRSDC) –CRSDC contracts encourage broad licenses –The Commercial project will archive all data from CRSDC contracts that is appropriately licensed –Possible new initiatives: Alaska and Hazards LRS organizing civil agency data buy for FY06 NGA holds over 5000 scenes of ClearView licensed high resolution imagery

12 Expanding the Commercial Archive Stennis Data Transfer –NASA’s Stennis Space Flight Center received two appropriations totaling $70M to purchase commercial data for NASA Earth science research –The Commercial Project is working with NASA to modify the current license and transfer the data –Stennis holdings: High Resolution (IKONOS, Quick Bird), SAR, DEM, LIDAR
