Department of Water Resources Delta Flood Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Program Geoff Shaw DWR/Flood Operations Branch Division of Flood Management

The Delta is vulnerable… The Department is developing the Delta Flood Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Program to improve its ability to respond to levee failures in the Delta and to minimize recovery time from these events. Program Overview

Program Components

DWR will respond to a Delta Flood Emergency according to the following priorities: Protection of life, public health and property Protection of critical infrastructure Protection of the environment Program Objectives

SBX2_1 (2008) Perata Proposition 1E (2006) – The Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond Act of 2006 $135 million to the Department of Water Resources for essential emergency preparedness supplies and projects….from this money, the Department authorized $80 million for the DWR Delta Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Program Legislative Authorization and Funding
