Information System Mike’s Mostly Used Cars For

What You Want to Do We know you want to setup a database We know you want to share information With each other With customers

What You Can Do You can create databases of buyers, and types of cars being sold Pictures of cars being sold Contact abilities between the company and the customers

What You Will Need Decent Computers One Computer to Govern the Rest Internet Connection Network Connections Software

Hardware We chose this as the system needed for you, your salespeople, and your book keeper: CPU: AMD Athlon Ram: 256 Megabytes CD-Rom: Sony 52X Monitor: Samsung 17”

Hardware All these packages will come with: Soundblaster 128 Live Sound Cards ATI Radeon 32 Megabyte Video Cards 3.5” Floppy Drive D-Link 10/100 Network Card 300 watt Mid Tower Case

Server Hardware To manage your network, a server will be needed, so that printing, internet, and data sharing can be organized and efficient. It will be a normal system, which means its parts will be easily upgradeable and replaceable.

Server Hardware We chose a faster, stronger computer to be the server. Its specifications are as follows: CPU: AMD Athlon Ram: 512 Megabytes DVD-Rom: DVD-Rom and CD Burner Combo Drive Monitor: Samsung 17”

Accessories We thought there would be a few other things that you may want and need: Digital Camera -to get photos online faster -to be able to attach photos to your car and customer database 2 Inkjet Printers -One used solely for text -One for colour printouts

Software Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional Productivity Suite: Microsoft Office which includes Access to create databases Antivirus Suite: Norton Antivirus 2002

Software We also thought some image editing software could be very useful if a digital camera is bought. To that end, we recommend: Photoshop 7.0 -For image editing IrfanView (Free) -For image optimization and simple editing (cropping, resizing)

Database This is what your database can look like when created in Access 2000.

Networking Hardware Cat 5 Cabling will have to run throughout the building to connect all the computers. Cat 5 is fast and inexpensive A hub will also be needed to allow the computers to connect the computers to the Server.

Internet Connection We decided on three Cable Internet Connections through local cable internet provider. Each connection can be used for up to three computers each, while still allowing for more than enough bandwidth.

Costs The initial cost for systems may be a little high, but there is no need to do this all at once. The advantage of doing it all at the same time is that there will be NO hardware conflicts.

Costs System Hardware:8 x$ Server Hardware:$ Network Hardware*:$ Software Total:8 x$ Internet Connection:3 x$ Estimated Total: $ 21, Dependant on Length of cable needed

Maintenance We also know the need for maintaining the systems, server and even the hardware for the network. We propose that we, the original installers of such equipment, continue to keep it working at its best for you.
