Developing a Technology Vision for State Center Community College District March 1,

GOAL: In collaboration with governance and leadership teams representing District constituents develop a technology vision that positions the District to deliver a superior student experience.

 Integrated perspective of the direction for technology in the District  Shared understanding of technology trends relevant to the District and its constituents  Documented view of the desired student experience within the District  Assessment of the District’s readiness to support the desired student experience  Technology vision statement vetted against the District vision 3 Outcomes from the Visioning Process

Objectives:  Develop draft components of The Student Experience at State Center  Familiarize participants with technology trends relevant to the District and its constituents Methods:  Technology trends presentation given by Liz Murphy  Facilitation provided by CampusWorks  Groups integrated with members from all participating constituencies move through exercises designed to help them draft components of the ideal student experience Participants:  District Board & faculty, staff and student leadership representatives March 23 Retreat 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. 4

 Draft student experience document  Tech trends presentation that can be shared with others in the District Deliverables following March 23 Retreat 5

Objectives:  Gather feedback on The Student Experience at State Center Community College District  Develop a “weighted” SWOT analysis relative to the District’s ability to deliver on the desired student experience Methods:  2 focus groups facilitated by CampusWorks Participants:  Participants in the March 23 retreat  Groups integrated to provide a mix of faculty, staff and student leadership in each focus group. [Trustees will not participate in this exercise] Readiness Assessment 6

 Second draft (suitable for the Board) of The Student Experience at State Center Community College District  Summary & detail of the SWOT analysis  Force Field Analysis (relevant trends vs. SWOT) Deliverables from Readiness Assessment 7

Objectives:  Finalize The Student Experience at State Center Community College District  Familiarize the Board with the “push & pull” of technology to support The Student Experience at State Center Community College District  Develop a draft technology vision statement Pre-reading:  The Student Experience draft document  Summarized SWOT analysis  Article to focus the development of a vision statement May 7 Board Meeting: Developing the Technology Vision 8

Methods:  Discuss comments/suggested revisions to The Student Experience  Presentation of Force Field Analysis by CampusWorks showing the push & pull between relevant trends and results from the SWOT analysis  Facilitated discussion to gather components and draft the technology vision statement Participants:  Board of Trustees  District Cabinet May 7 Board Meeting: Developing the Technology Vision 9
