Banner ODS/EDW 1

OLTP Our Banner database instance is currently 350+ Gbytes in size and is comprised of several hundred tables that house Student, HR, and Finance data. On a typical day, we have approximate 300 active Banner users with at least as many Self Service Banner users (more during registration, grades, etc) OLTP is On-Line Transaction Processing 2

ODS – Operation Data Store The Banner ODS is a real-time copy of the Banner database. Leverages Oracle Streams technology The Banner OLTP database has a few views The BANNER ODS has many views to de-normalize the data 4

EDW Analytics and Data Mining (Cognos and Argos) An EDW is an aggregation of underlying data that may provide strategic analysis to help form business strategies. 7
