2 Overview  M2M is considered to be a key and very important feature and applications for cdma20000 industry TSG-C already set up a new WI for cdma2000 1x Rev F focusing on M2M communications TSG-X is considering a new architecture for cdma2000 network to support M2M and discussing to set up a new work item  TSG-A basically consider a separated specification for M2M The new specification can match with work items developed by TSG-C and TSG-X Focus on existing IOS enhancements or new contents to support M2M communications

3 Why a Separated IOS Specification?  It is easy for TSG-A to develop and maintain this specification for access network technology of M2M communications The essential cdma2000 1x IOS (A.S ) and A.S0008/9, the Bible of TSG-A, are heavy burdens to develop. Any IOS work to support some specific applications or features in this industry may lost in those specifications.  Developing separated IOS specs for supporting Femto/ES/eHRPD-eUTRAN IWK are good examples in TSG-A M2M IOS spec developing could follow the same way

4 How to Develop it  Number a new specification for M2M IOS Interoperability Specification (IOS) for cdma2000 Machine To Machine Communications A.S0002? A.S0025?  Should the essential cdma2000 1x IOS (A.S ) and A.S0008/9 specs be updated regarding developing M2M IOS? It may be necessary, need to discuss it

5 M2M IOS Contents Consideration  M2M Features in 1x Rev F Reduce power consumption Improve Transmission Efficiency Reduce Call Setup Time Improve RL link Budget and Reliable Delivery for SDB Congestion Control Persistent PPP Positioning Access Packet Data Assembling (Under discussion)  M2M Device capability or characteristic(s) should be sent over A interfaces  M2M with packet data network TBD
