T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 Ecuador & Global issues

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 The Group 4 Project is a collaborative science project, undertaken by all Year 12 students together. The Project tries to answer focussed questions, relating to a common theme. The questions are answered experimentally, with the support of research. Diploma students must participate in the Project. Successful conclusion of the Project represents 10 hours of practical work. The Project process and conclusion (presentation) and write-up will be used to get a good handle on the IA assessment criteria.

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 The Group 4 Project goes through three stages: PLANNING ACTION EVALUATION The Project starts today, 28th May, and will run through all Physics and Biology classes up to and including 8th June, when we shall have the final presentations in front of an invited audience and Year 11.

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 Assessment will result from a combination of: TEAM ASSESSMENT INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT SELF EVALUATION This will result in one grade (1-7) awarded to each student. Teams will be assessed according to the IA assessment criteria. It is thus important that these criteria are followed closely. This will make the Project a valuable learning experience and preparation for the IA next year.

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 The Group 4 Project Blog will be the fundamental source of information, collaboration, reporting, planning, etc. Purposeful activity on the Blog will be a significant contributor to the final assessment grade for teams and individuals.

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 Every team must undertake experimental investigation(s), supported by good research. Success in the Project will depend upon the primary data which you plan for, collect, analyse and evaluate, and which is related to a wider context through research.

T HE IB G ROUP 4 P ROJECT - M AY 2015 The Group 4 Project will investigate and aim to apply local solutions to global issues. Very grand! But so very necessary.
