Success Success is the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. Success comes when you achieve something that is important to you

10 Year Plan Why write a ten year plan? ▫to help you realize your goals and dreams ▫to teach you a systematic process for choosing your future career and life direction.

Self Directed Under one's own control. Showing initiative and the ability to organize oneself. It’s your life and future you must direct it. You should strive for self direction if you want to successfully manage the changes and challenges in life.

Envisioning your future Imagine your ideal career. What is the setting? What are your tasks? Are you working alone or with others? How do you feel about yourself?

Job or Career there IS a difference A job is a particular task. It is usually done with very little preparation or training. Can be paid or unpaid. A career is something you prepare and/or train for. It encompasses all of your life’s work.

Why do people work? Survival Define themselves Self-respect Measure self-worth Conquer time Sense of security

Technology Technology is a means for gathering information Our power comes from using information to produce knowledge

Career Choices Textbook It’s important that we follow the material in the Career Choices textbook in sequence because each part build on the previous part. This is why it’s important to keep up with the work. Often one assignment might refer you back to a previous assignment and if that assignment is not done you will not be able to move forward NO ONE passes Freshman Focus unless his/her 10 year plan is complete up to what is covered in class.
