Where we stand today Keys for success Link to existing development processes Politicians must ”own” the process EU issues must be communicated in the ”market square” Build networks with other regions Create projects, for example Interreg IV:c
Where we stand today Project organisation Operative project management group set up comprising chief executives and the Regional Council ’ s managing director The executive committees of the Regional Council and the municipalities form a steering group, charged of two politicians The Regional Council is responsible for coordinating external stakeholders, collecting and processing data, etc.
General thoughts and questions with focus on to help the politicians How to combine political ambitions/region challenges with relevant statistic How to force the politicians to really own the project More regional statistics is needed Important with the dialogue with the citizens (EU on the marketsquare) Horizontal dialogue/vertical dialogue Is it necessary to have right to local taxes to create results?
What I expect to gain from the meeting in Paris Ideas concerning statistics, how we measure(indicators), describe, and dialogue with the citizens Support for our work in Sormland Benchmarking, regions to compare with
Long term goals 2010 Growth in S ö rmland are …….. Inhabitants in S ö rmland are more positive towards both regional development and EU cooperation. S ö rmland and its municipalities are on the EU ” growth map ”.
