Monkey Island Chapter 5 “The Coffee Van”

1.How did Calvin spend part of his time? How many notebooks has he filled so far? –He was writing the story of his life. –He has filled 11 notebooks so far.

2.How did Clay get along with Buddy and Calvin? –Sometimes they paid little attention to him although they had taken him into their lives. –Sometimes they treated him as a child, other times they treated him as an ageless person in trouble.

3.Was Clay better off with Buddy and Calvin than if he were making it on his own? Why? This question is your own opinion.

4.Why did the police take Gerald’s van away? –The park was public property and Gerald was using his van to feed the homeless.

5.Why did Calvin tell Gerald that Clay was his grandson? –Gerald would feel that he would have to do something about Clay.

6. Why did Calvin and Buddy think that Clay was going to have to move someplace else? –The cold was coming, Clay was becoming a street person and soon he would not want to go to school or want the things that he missed.

7.What did Clay learn when he returned to the hotel? –Mrs. Larkin was no longer there and his room had been taken over by another family.

8. What did Buddy do to show he was really a caring person? –He brought Clay a warm sweater and then put his arms around Clay and hugged him.
