Presentation transcript:

Accelerated Reader You must read books within your reading range based on STAR testing, test history, and previous STAR scores. Refer to goal setting chart for your goal (don’t lose it!) 10% of your grade If you choose not to participate in AR, then you will be unable to earn an A in language arts.

More on AR… I do give extra credit for going over your goal! You may take an AR test in language arts class only ! You may only go to the library once you’ve passed an AR test! If you want to switch your book, you must do it on your own time!!! You may take an AR test and/or go to the library on designated reading days only!

DO… Read every night for at least 20 minutes! This is required homework for ELA class. You must log your at home reading in your agenda daily. Record as follows: Title (page started- page ended) ie. Maze Runner ( ). Complete an “AR Test Report” after taking an AR test. Ask for suggestions/recommendations if you are having trouble finding a good book.

DO NOT… DO NOT take a test on a book you have not finished reading! DO NOT read a book from last year- I WILL NOT reset the system for you to take the test again! DO NOT take a test in any other classroom or the library- you may only take a test in language arts. DO NOT take a test on a book you did not read, even if you’ve seen the movie! DO NOT read picture books for quick points!
