Vocabulary Quiz Get your clicker and complete the vocabulary quiz.

Presentations Present your findings on your journalist. When you are not presenting... You will need to write 3 things you learned about the journalist and/or things you liked about the presentation (at least 2 have to be about the journalist). Journalist’s Name 1 thing you learned Another thing you learned One more thing you learned

Vocabulary for next section 1. Indirect quote 2. Direct quote 3. Attribution 4. On/off the record 5. Formal interview 6. Investigative reporting 7. Open/closed ended question 8. Follow-up question 9. News judgment 10. Proximity 11. Timeliness 12. Prominence These may or may not be in the text. You may have to use the dictionary.

Quick Questions 10 students will need to stand at the front of the room facing the board. These 10 students will have a paper placed on their backs with a name of a famous location. Other students are NOT to tell what is on the paper!!!! You will need a notebook for note taking. Those with papers on their backs will ask Yes or NO questions ONLY. You can only ask 3 questions per student, then move onto another classmate. Each time you ask a question, place a tally mark on your paper. You must also take notes about questions that need a follow up question, what questions provide them with clues, etc. (What are good questions/What are bad questions) The goal is determine the location with as few questions as possible.

Quick Questions Take 2 This time, I need those who did not have a paper on their back last time to go to the front of the room. You, too, will get a paper with a name of a famous location. You will complete the same activity, but you are not restricted to yes or no questions (you can not ask what is my location). Again, you will need to tally the number of questions and take notes on the types of questions that get you the most information.

Exit Slip 1. Name 3 journalists we discussed in class and 1 fact about each. 2. Describe what you learned about good and bad interview questions (not just one sentence)!

Homework Research one US landmark and learn at least 3 new facts. You will need to print the website with the 3 facts highlighted OR handwritten paper with 3 facts and the URL of the website. If you have time in class, and have a smart phone, you may start your research.
