WELCOME BACK!! LET’S MAKE IT AN AWESOME SEMESTER OF APUSH

SIT IN GROUPS OF 4 – WHERE’S #4?????? If you are not in a group of 4 invite others in or join their group. You may stay with prior group members or try all new (just share contact information), as long as you are in a group of 4. You may sit in different area, but the room should fill from the front.

HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS AP Test registration – Who still needs to register? Use available tax credit dollars to defray costs. Bring back your first semester document book TOMORROW, you will be getting second semester book. If you did not leave your slavery DBQ here, be sure to bring it tomorrow. DBQs are a process (like all learning)

THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL REFLECTIONS Thinking about metacognition is a lifelong skill. It is a skill usually built like most skills – with practice. This reflection was in 1 st semester grade. It goes in Section 5. Notebook – keep all items in Sections 1, 4, and 5 and bring every day along with your trusty black or blue pen and paper. You may leave Semester 1 Sections 2 and 3 at home. They may be excellent review materials for the AP exam in May! Especially your College Board Period Guides and guiding questions.

WHERE WE WILL GO SECOND SEMESTER From Reconstruction to present (or as close as we can get) College Board Period Guides 6, 7, 8, and 9 Key textbook material from Chapters Primary and Secondary Source documents More short answer and DBQ practice Two major projects (1920s Simulation and Socratic on use of Atomic Weapons to end WWII)

OH THE PLACES WE WILL GO (CONT.) AP Exam After School Reviews Keeping Calm and Getting It Done by AP Madness time the first couple of weeks in May Also getting standardized testing completed in April WE CAN DO IT, BUT IT DOES REQUIRE YOUR FOCUS IN ALL YOUR CLASSES!!!!! I PROMISE TO WORK HARD TO HELP YOU SUCCEED. IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO??????????????????????

HOMEWORK FOR THURSDAY/FRIDAY Complete Chapter 23 Reading – Optional Questions due. We will do fewer tests, more reading quizzes during second semester. Questions are optional for everyone on this Unit. Must maintain an 80% in class for questions to remain optional after unit test. You cannot use questions on unit tests, but you can use them on reading quizzes. I encourage you to do as many as possible and to continue to work with your study group on these.

PREVIEW OF COLLEGE BOARD PERIOD 6 Key Concepts: - Let’s review a few and connect to the present
