Certificate Programs (One Year or More) Provide training for entry-level career positions Designed to assist individuals wishing to develop marketable skills and who need rapid entry into the job market Certificate of completion programs require college-level credits, while Department of Higher Education approved certificates require 30 + credits which in many cases can be applied to a degree program at the college Delete STCC Transformation Project

The Enhanced CNA/Patient Care Technician performs a variety of technical tasks and bedside functions, often in acute care settings. *MUST be a current CNA in Massachusetts CNA slide bullet… Responsibilities include: direct patient care; hygiene, skin care, mobility and monitoring. The PCT is expected to manage equipment and perform or assist in all procedures on unit. This role is a member of a designated care team functioning under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Other duties include: Assisting patients with activities of daily living. In doing so, performs bathing, positioning, skin care, ambulating, toileting and assists with transportation. Performs and records in patients’ charts, basic nursing care procedures such as collecting routine specimens, taking vital signs, intake and outpatient and weight.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) Are frontline public health workers who are trusted members of and/or have an unusually close understanding of the community they serve. This trusting relationship enables CHWs to serve as a liaison/link/intermediary between health/social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. CHWs also build individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy. (American Public Health Association, 2008)

SIMS Career Training courses Students may enroll in one of the following career pathways. Each career pathway requires two career training courses. ALL STUDENTS will be required to complete 60 hours of a field or clinical experience. Technology Requirements Students may choose a computer course with the support of the College and Career Navigator depending on their previous experience and knowledge of computers. CMPA 098 or CMPA 160 Substitutions After discussion with the College and Career Navigator, students who have previously taken the College Success Seminar and/or Medical Terminology with a “B” grade or higher may choose from the following 3 credit courses instead.
