Amanda’s Big Day for Grades K-5

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved This is Amanda and tomorrow is a very big day for her. She is trying out for the Safety Patrol at her school.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved When her dad asks her at dinner time if she is nervous, she tells him the truth the first time and says, “Yes, very. There is a test.” Her dad asks her if she is prepared.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Amanda tells her dad that she has studied the Safety Patrol book every day for the past week. And she has organized the study questions from the book onto flash cards so she can study at lunch.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved She also tells her dad that another kid at school said he had a copy of the Safety Patrol test from last year and asked Amanda if she would like it. Amanda said no, that would be cheating. Her dad says he is proud of her.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Amanda is used to studying hard. She always does her homework and never complains about it. This helps her to be prepared. Many times when the teacher asks a question, she knows the answer.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved On the way to school the next day, Amanda finds a cell phone on the ground. She turns it in to her teacher.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Maria had lost the phone and was very happy to get it back. She thanked Amanda for being so honest.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Amanda’s teacher, Miss Evernice, said that Amanda showed integrity. Amanda was glad and proud she did the right thing.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Amanda is ready for the Safety Patrol test and feels like she did well. She knows that whether she makes Safety Patrol or not, she is glad she makes good choices.

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved What about you? Do you make good choices?

© 2008 Clarion Council All rights reserved Guess what? Amanda made Safety Patrol!
