Heart Facts Human heart weighs less than a pound. Creates enough pressure to squirt blood 30 feet. Beats 35 million times a year. Pumps blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels.

Average oil tanker carries 2 million barrels The heart pumps one million barrels of blood over a lifetime. 2,000 gallons a day.

Heart Disease: Why learn about it?

That’s equivalent to crashing every day !!!!! Every 60 seconds a person dies from heart disease.

Is there a way to prevent most of these heart problems and the risk of sudden death?

Heart Facts In 2006, 631,636 people died of heart disease. Heart disease caused 26% of deaths—more than one in every four—in the United States. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. Half of the deaths due to heart disease in 2006 were women. Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease. Every year about 785,000 Americans have a first heart attack. Another 470,000 who have already had one or more heart attacks have another attack. In 2010, heart disease will cost the United States $316.4 billion. For persons 40 years of age the lifetime risk of developing heart disease is 49% in men and 32% in women. Although HD is relatively rare in premenopausal women, after menopause the incidence and severity of HD increases abruptly.
