What Is Abstinence? Abstinence is: - the conscious decision not to participate in sexual activity, and … - the skills to support and maintain that decision A sexually transmitted disease (STD) is an infectious disease that is spread by sexual contact. Avoiding the risk of STDs is just one of the many benefits of abstinence. For long term happiness & stability, teen relationships should focus on emotional intimacy, not sexual intimacy.
