List of events Luke 3:1-18:34 Jesus’ cousin, John the Baptist preaches and baptizes. Jesus is baptized. The Holy Spirit comes on Jesus Jesus is tempted by the devil in the desert and defeats Him by quoting words from the bible Jesus teaches about Himself in his hometown. People try to kill Him Jesus teaches and brings a dead girl back to life He teaches from a fishing boat and helps Peter make a huge catch of fish

He invites a tax collector, Matthew Levi, to follow Him Jesus prays, selects His disciples and teaches them While a religious leader hosts Jesus for dinner, a woman of bad reputation enters and washes Jesus’ feet with her tears. Jesus forgives her sins.

When John the Baptist is arrested, he sends His disciples to ask if Jesus is the one John is expecting. Jesus tells them to report back what they have seen and heard Jesus tells the parable of the sower Jesus calms a storm Jesus heals a demon possessed man and sends the demons into pigs

Jesus feeds a large crowd of people with just five loaves of bread and two fishes He asks His disciples who they think He is Jesus takes three disciples to a mountain to pray. Amazing things happen Jesus heals a demon possessed boy Near the river, Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray

Jesus teaches them to trust God for their daily lives (look at the birds and the flowers) Jesus heals a woman with a bent back. Religious leaders criticize Him for healing on the Sabbath day Walking along a road Jesus continues teaching on the Kingdom of God and answers questions Jesus and a young man talk about what the Jewish bible teaches people to do. He tells the parable of the good Samaritan Jesus picks up a little girl and describes the attitude that is needed to enter God’s Kingdom

Luke 4:14-22 Vs 14,15 What is written about Jesus? Where did Jesus go, what did He do? Vs 18, 19 what did He read? (compare to Isaiah 61:1-3) Vs 20: What does He say about this Scripture? What does this mean? Vs 18 and 19 Which mission prophesied in the OT did Jesus claim He had come to fulfil? If you would have been a fellow villager, how would you have tested if this was really the mission of Jesus?

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” Read Luke 13:10-17 How long had the lady been sick and what was her sickness? What did the synagogue ruler care about and why? What did Jesus care about and why? In what way did Jesus fulfill His mission here? Read Luke 7:36-50 How did other people view the lady and how did they act towards her? What may have given her the courage to enter the house and come to Jesus? What was she suffering from? (socially, psychologically, spiritually) What was the good news for her?

If there is time left…….. Read Luke 8:26-39 What was wrong with the man in vs 27 Who was/were shouting at Jesus in vs 28? What were they afraid of? How did Jesus set the man free? What did the villagers care about? What did Jesus care about? What did Jesus tell the man to do?
