Our goal is to make your children great communicators in whatever form or means they require: –Writing (grammar and vocabulary, SAT Prep); –Speaking (presentation techniques and technology); –Reading (great literature that we read, analyze, and relate to our own experiences, now and in the future). Course Evaluation (NEW): Types of Assessment Approximate Weighting Major Assessments 60% Unit Tests Formal Writing Assignments Research Papers Projects/Presentations Minor Assessments 30% Quizzes Blog posts In-class writing, drafts, outlines Other 10% Homework (vocabulary, grammar) Self-management homework (signed syllabus, book covers) Study guides, reading guides Dealing with late work, incomplete work and opportunities for extra credit (if any). Long-term assignments will have a deduction of 10% per calendar day. Overnight assignments may be given some credit at the teacher’s discretion. Work not submitted will receive a zero. Extra credit must be content related and not affect (0-2%) the overall grade. We work hard…
