Raphaels Life Raphael was born in Urbino. His real name was Raffaello Sanzio.

What Raphael did in Florence. Raphael settled in Florence in 1504. There he studied paintings of great Italian artists.

What the pope asked him to do. Late in 1508,Pope Julius II asked Raphael to work for him. Julius wanted him to rebuild and redecorate Rome along with some other people.

What he's paintings were like? Here is an example of one of his paintings This is called the Madoona of the Goldfinch.

Raphael's painting of the school of Athens. Raphael's school of Athens was one of his most beautiful paintings.
