 YOU! Entering Freshman – Class of 2017

#1 Earn 26 credits. #2 Earn the correct credits. #3 Pass 5 state tests.

 With 8 periods a day you have the opportunity to earn 32 credits in the regular school day during your four years here. (8 x 4 = 32)  If you do not pass a class, you must retake it.  Each course must be PASSED in order to receive credit. It is not enough to have “taken” the class. You must receive credit for the class.

 If you fail one semester, the other semester’s grade must be high enough to make the average of both a 70.  For example:  If in the Fall Semester, you make a 66. In the Spring Semester you must make at least a 74 in order to pass.  If you make a 71 the second semester, you do not pass for the year and must retake the Fall Semester part of the course.

 There are three graduation plans.  Today, we are only looking at the Recommended Plan.  There are additional requirements for the Distinguished Plan.

 The courses listed on the front of the pink sheet are the courses required for the 26 credit plan.  The courses listed on the back of the pink sheet are the courses offered at Crockett that are electives or alternate courses if allowed.

 The back of the green sheet is the form used when checking credits. This is the way counselors check the courses required for graduation. English/Language Arts Mathematics Science Social Studies Economics Academic Electives Languages other than English Physical Education Speech Fine Arts Elective Courses

 Some classes are a prerequisite for another class. This means it must be completed with credit in order to take another course in the sequence.  Example: Algebra I in order to take Algebra II  There are ways to recover credit, but it will be at a loss of opportunities for other courses.

There are five state assessments you must pass to graduate: ▪ English I ▪ English II ▪ Algebra I ▪ Biology ▪ US History

 You have the opportunity to have 32 credits in the regular school day during your four years at Crockett (8 x 4 = 32).  As you begin to think about the courses you want to take, keep in mind any CTE courses that interest you. The sequence may require 3 years to complete for licensing.  Your ASAP teacher has a print out of the courses/options required in the CTE sequences.

 As you begin to fill in your choices for your four year plan, remember that each course is either a one semester course or two semester course. Name: Student ID: Four Year Plan Worksheet Assumptions: 8 classes per year, Pass all classes the first time you take them. 1.) Today’s session is to familiarize you with the concept of a four year plan. Choice sheets for next year will be distributed in February, only 4 months from now! You will have opportunities to change your choices before school starts. Your plan can always change…but the core requirements are always there.
