The Beginning of Christianity and The Fall of the Roman Empire

It was during the Roman Empire that Christianity began.

Many Christians were persecuted, or punished for their beliefs.

The Emperor Constantine outlawed the persecution of Christians The Emperor Constantine outlawed the persecution of Christians. He was the first emperor to practice Christianity.

Christianity continued to spread and has become one of the world’s most practiced religions.

The Fall of The Roman Empire In about 180 AD, the Roman Empire began to decline. Civil Wars broke out and dishonest emperors ruled.

The emperor Constantine made a new capital of Rome in the city of Constantinople. This divided the Roman Empire in two. The eastern Roman Empire became known as the Byzantine Empire.

The Christian Church split in two also The Christian Church split in two also. The West had the Roman Catholic Church, the East had the Byzantine Orthodox Church.

Invaders such as the Huns, Visigoths, and Vandals (tribes from Germany) attacked the Western Roman Empire. They stole everything in the city of Rome and burned much of the city to the ground.
