Team pHFine Scale By Ethan Kurteff

* In the blue tank, an artificial seawater solution (8.05 pH) is mixed. This and distilled water are added > here 8.05 pH

* The solution is distributed to the yellow and purple tanks, with the help of pumps (shown in brown) where it is mixed with hydrochloric acid, and sodium hydroxide to create a relatively acidic solution(7.10 pH) and a relatively basic solution (9.20 pH), respectively. HCLNaOH 9.20 pH 7.10 pH

* Each of these three solutions are pumped into the orange tank, where they, one after another, have their pH and temperature measured to extreme precision with a colorimetric pH sensor, and team pHFine scale's glass electrode sensor. This is repeated for a slightly warmer version of each solution, to give a basis for temperature compensation, for a total of six independent measurements. 1st 2nd 3rd Each solution is drained after measurement Colorimetric pH sensor Glass Electrode Sensor Induction heaters raise the temperature of each solution by a few degrees, after the initial three measurements are taken

* The colorimetric sensor uploads its data to the glass electrode sensor, to give it a basis for calibration. A Bluetooth transmitter (the black box) logs data, such as number, time and ID of sensors calibrated, to a smartphone, which then uploads it to a data logging server. Alternatively, a direct internet connection could be utilized. Waste Tank Bluetooth Transmitter Data To Smartphone Calibration Data Transfer
