The Centers for Elderly Citizens in Greece The Centers for Elderly Citizens known and as Centres of Open protection of Old men, they were presented for first time in Greece in 1979 when the address of Protection of Old men of Ministry of Health and Prevention called the group of volunteers and asked his collaboration in the creation of Experimental centre of Open protection of Old men outside from Institutions.

The Centers for Elderly Citizens in Greece The Greek Company of gerogology founded first the Centers for Elderly citizens. The first centre was staffed from a team of educated personnel that was constituted by a doctor, physiotherapist and visitor of health.

The Centers for Elderly Citizens in Greece In the years that followed the Centers for Elderly citizens expanded in the all country. Up to the end 1981 functioned 8 KAPI with volunteers of red Cross.

The Centers for Elderly Citizens and their aim for the elderly. Aim of this centres is initially the prevention biological, psychological and social problems of old men so that they are active members of social total. Then, basic aim is exists collaboration of social total and special institutions with regard to the problems and the needs of old men. Still, very important are the Primary Prevention (medical examinations, advices for the reject of accidents) as well as the Secondary prevention which includes medical examinations that have aim the convenient diagnosis.

Services that provide the Centers for the elderly citizens Some of the services that provide the Centers for the elderly citizens constitute advisory, psychological and sentimental support, social care of old men and their families. Still, the care and the directives on Medico-pharmaceutical and hospital Care as well as the Physiotherapy, the organised Entertainment but also the attendance in common aestival camps

Medical benefits Finally, almost all the residents of KAPI need for some type medical care. It can be anything, from the basic care of doctor in something more specialised or even in something very simple. The biggest part of personnel in these houses has abundant education for how it deals with the patients that have need from the benefit of specialised helps.
