Population Video Handout 2011 (we did this in the lecture hall last week…)

1. What is the current condition in the world as far as population? B. Growing very fast!!!

2. How many people does each dot represent?

3. Where was the first dot located in the United States? #1 California #2 Louisiana #3 Florida

4. Which two areas did you notice had the most at an early date? China and India

5. Throughout history, most people have lived in which latitude zone? Mid

6. Which continent was the last to be settled? Australia

7. What does the video predict will happen to out population in about 50 years? Double

8. What two things must happen in our future in order for our world to survive? 1.Advances in technology 2.Personal decisions

9. What characteristics are present where most people live? Water Soil Climate

10. What year did you begin to notice a large increase in population growth? Between the late 1800s to early 1900’s What historical events, scientific advances, or societal changes at that time period may have contributed to that population growth? Industrial Revolution…
