ACTS OF BRAVERY

THE DAUNTLESS MANIFESTO There is a line in the Dauntless manifesto that says “I believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.” What would you consider to be “an ordinary act of bravery?” Be prepared to explain.

THE DAUNTLESS MANIFESTO Which characters in Divergent seem to embrace this manifesto? What specific actions do they take that show the want to live out this line from the manifesto? Which characters in Divergent may APPEAR to be brave, but in reality they are cowards because the want to hurt each other instead of stand up for another? Do you feel it’s possible for these two groups to work together to protect their society? Why or why not?

CONNECTION QUESTION We have probably encountered individuals that took the time to stand up for us in difficult situations at least one in our lines. Who was that individual and how did they help you? Write a well- constructed paragraph that discusses this “act of bravery” that was done for YOU. Remember that every paragraph should have a strong focus sentence!
