Understand Before you are understood you need to understand other people first.  They might not always be saying what they are feeling so you must look at the body movement, the tone of their voice, and the words. You must also listen to what they are not saying like, reading between the lines.

For people to understand you, you need courage to speak freely. Say what’s on your mind. Speaking up is a big deal. The more courage you have the better you are off. Usually you have to have some courage to mirror someone, or at least to even try to compromise with someone.
