Q G  Long industry experience  Became more efficient and cost effective over time  HD workflows largely the same as SD  Complacency builds up 5

Q G WGBH Public Television Quality Workshop  Still developing  Changes based on acquisition type and NLE  Not efficient (yet!) across production components  Archival questions  Consequences for mismanagement can be severe 6

Q G Question Everything WGBH Public Television Quality Workshop  How are the files organized? How do WE want them to be organized?  How are the files safe guarded through the process?  How do we transfer that much footage?  How will this affect our efficiency?  How long will it take to ingest?  How does one just find a portion of the footage?  Can we work with the native codec or does it need to be transcoded? Do we keep the transcoded media? Does the transcoded media have links back to the original  Can our station archive file-based media? How will they archive it? Can I find it again? How long will it take for Archives to move the media in and out?  Can I restore program with file-based media easily?  How do we archive it internally?  How will the material be identified in an EDL?  How does the rest of FRONTLINE view the material as needed? 9
