Hold a supervisory position over lower ranking enlisted members 3. In the Army, NCO’s are known as “the backbone of the Army”! Same for all services 4. NCOs make the mission happen…..“boots-on-backsides” 5. Not all E4s are NCOs…..Must be a Corporal vice a Specialist in the Army (same in USMC) 6. Technical specialist in assigned areas of expertise. The expert is specialized fields such as Communications, Intelligence, Maintenance 3. Technical specialty applicants must be Staff Sergeant/E-6 or higher to be considered for selection. There is no minimum grade requirement for aviation applicants 4. Other requirements for WO School a. Have a high school diploma b. U.S. Citizen Military Career Opportunities

Not passed their 33rd birthday for aviators or their 46th birthday for all other specialties d. Achieve a qualifying score on the Selection Instrument for Flight Training (SIFT). e. General Technical score of 110 or higher on the ASVAB f. At least 12 months remaining on their enlistment contract g. Meet the Army's physical standards (height/weight and APTF) h. Meet entry medical fitness standards. Aviator applicants must pass Flight Physical and be approved by Flight Surgeons at Ft. Rucker, AL, prior to the selection board. Military Career Opportunities

Must meet minimum requirements to be “considered” for promotion (time in service, time in grade, successful completion of all skill level requirements and NCO Educational requirements) 4. Officer Candidate School d. Direct Appointment 2. ROTC (2 and 4 year programs) a. Must earn a Bachelor’s Degree b. Successfully complete all training requirements c. You owe 8-years of service (Active, Guard or Reserves) d. Over 70% of Officers come from ROTC 3. Provides a path for Enlisted to become officers 3. Must meet all pre-requisites to apply (Academic, Fitness, Performance) 4. Each State’s National Guard has their own OCS 5. Highly skilled or trained individual in a professional field such as doctors, dentist, lawyers, etc 3. The rank is dependent upon two factors: a. Years of schooling b. Prior experience in that professional field 4. Some doctors come in as a CPT or Major Military Career Opportunities
