Introductory Vocabulary and Context Lesson

 Professional appeal for a job. (Lawyers, Businessmen, Bankers, etc.)  To signify importance of an event. (weddings, funerals, birthdays, etc.)  Formal Clothing shows professionalism, class, dignity, respect for others and self.  Often symbols of money or high social status.  NOT limited to wealthy or elite

 Skirt  Dress/Gown  Blouse  Make up  Heels

 Necklace  Sandals  Bracelet  Earrings

 Tie  Dress Shoes (Brown or Black)  Sweater  Watch

 Belt  Collared Shirt  Coat/Jacket  Dress Pants

 These are full formal outfits that can be worm by men or women depending on how they are tailored  Men’s vs. Women’s

 Get into groups based on the listings below (groups will be tentative to class. In this each group will have about students)  Group 1: gather in the front  Group2: Gather in the back  Group 3: Gather to the right side  Group 4: Gather to the left side  MOVE QUIETLY!

 Each group will get a scenario and a dictionary. Based on their specific scenarios they will search from the pile of formal clothing in the middle of the classroom. Each group will have 4 items to find and then place on a member of their group. This task is to better the understanding, reading, and comprehension levels of English language and vocabulary.

 Each group will need to designate;  Group Leader: in charge of organization and management  Two Searchers: Responsible for leaving group to look for correct clothing articles  Two Secretaries: In charge of using dictionary  One Person to Dress up: will be wearing clothing articles  Two speakers: In charge of directions and communication  Only the Group leader and speakers will be able to talk in an effort to keep noise down!
