British East India CompanySepoy Rebellion Imperialism in India Notes British trading company who took advantage of instability in India & gained control of the government. It became the base for British Imperialism in India. The sepoys (Hindu & Muslim soldiers) were forced to use pig & cow grease on their weapons. This went against their religious teachings.
