The Sun

The sun is our source of light. Also it is our source of heat The Sun gives us all of our energy.

At one point in history people actually believed that the moon gave of its own light. But, they found out it was the Sun hiding behind the moon.

o The sun started as a cloud o It was made of interstellar dust and gas

Astronomers thereoized that this was a supernova when a red star explodes

o Stars in our universe can be bigger and hotter the the sun o But they also can be smaller and cooler o Stars that are hotter then the sun are blue and white o Stars that are cooler are red and orange

o The sun looks like the largest star on Earth because it is the closest star to us. o The Sun is an average star.

o 1 million Earth’s could fit inside the Sun o The Sun’s diameter is 860,000 miles across o The Sun’s surface is 5,778 K.

THE SUNTHE SOLAR SYSTEM The sun is the center of our solar system.

o Astronomer- A person who studies astronomy. o Supernova- When a red star explodes. o Dense-Closely compacted in substance. o Solar system- The collection of planets and their moons in orbit around a sun, together with smaller bodies such as asteroids, meteoroids, and comets.

The sun has layers just like Earth. It has the inner core the outer core the mantle the chromosphere and the photosphere.

I chose the sun because I did not know much about it until now. This project was very fun!! I hope you learned something new during my project. If I could research more about it I probably would.
