ANALYSIS OF SWOT OUR STRENGTHS All University community need ICT to do one thing or the other; therefore we have a ready made market in you. We have modern infrastructural facilities though it may not be adequate but what we have is a state of the art facilities. 6

WEAKNESS Without electricity, we cannot function. Irregular or no power supply is adversely affecting our operations. The University bandwidth is grossly inadequate to cope with demands from our customers. Shortage of staff: Our Directorate could not boast of a single system analyst / programmer 7

The current staff of the Directorate have not been sent on upgrade courses, seminars, workshop or conferences for the past 12 years in this ever dynamic ICT world. 8

OPPORTUNITY We have already made market for our product and services. If management support the resuscitation of our consultancy services unit, there is no limit to the fund we can generate for the University. Despite the small number of senior staff in the Directorate the Directorate could boast of 4 Chattered Computer Professional members. Even some older Universities could not boast of this. This is an added advantage to the university’s computer science programme. 9

ICT is capital intensive. Budgetary allocation to the Directorate of ICT is ridiculous. Imagine allocation of N5 million in a year to the Directorate when a kobo was not even released out of it. Out of this paltry N5 million which was not even released to us, the University wants ICT to perform. Incessant damage of ICT cables 10
