What does the Student Learning Service offer? General Workshops The SLS offers a wide range of academic skills workshops for students at all levels of study, to which PGR students may come to refresh or develop their own levels of competence. Workshops for PGR students SLS also collaborates with the Researcher Development Unit in workshops, which include critical appraisal of the literature and academic writing. Academic writing Maths skills Time- managemen t Critical thinking when reading & writing Critical appraisal of the literature Mind mapping Effective listening & note-taking Giving a presentation

One-to-one writing development sessions These are offered only by request of the student’s supervisor. They may focus on, for example: Structure of the argument Clarity of the argument Incorporating sources into the argument SLS also offers specialist one-to-one planning / writing development for PGR students with dyslexia and other learning differences What does the Student Learning Service offer?
