 Name: El Macho  Gender: Male  Education: 3 years of college  Profession: Sales representative  Family Situation: Married with 4 kids  Chief Complaints: Would like to be able to exercise more and eat more nutritiously

 Weight: 230 lbs.  Height: 6’2” ft.  Adult illnesses: none  Family health history: history of cardiac diseases, stroke, and high blood pressure  Siblings obese, Father died of heart attack, Mother had aortic aneurism

 People who try weight loss plans usually fail at staying on them and have to try multiple times during their life  The best exercise programs to use are the ones that the clients actually enjoy to do  You have to exercise off more calories than you eat in order lose weight  Limit fat intake and eat less, while you exercise more, in order to lose weight at an efficient rate

 Eat more nutritious  Exercise more often

 High Perceived Susceptibility: higher risk of heart disease and high blood pressure due to family history  Low Perceived Severity: Very stress free lifestyle, stress- free job and does not believe he is at high risk for getting cardiac disease, but could lose some weight  Perceived Barriers: Does not have a lot of time to work out and eating non-nutritious food is not uncommon for him  High Self-Efficacy: is married, relaxed, and has support from family and friends

 Changing exercise regime and eating healthier will help him lose some weight and decrease susceptibility to cardiac diseases  Increased Perceived Severity: Doing good right now, but family history shows obesity and cardiac issues  Raised Perceived Benefits: Increase nutritious food intake and exercise more to prevent cardiac issues even more  Get help from family to encourage him to workout even when he feels tired and to eat nutritious food instead of junk food

 4 weeks El Macho will go from exercising 0 times a week to exercising at least twice per week  Limit fast food to once per week and eat healthier  Convince El Macho of the high perceived susceptibility  Inform El Macho of the risks of not exercising and eating unhealthy  Tell El Macho the benefits of working out regularly and eating a nutritious diet  Over a 4 week period, El Macho should eat much healthier and exercise at least twice a week, hopefully more  Get calories down to a target of 2,400 or less daily

 By the end of week 4, El Macho exercised twice a week and got his calorie count down to only 2,400 calories  After the the project, he has actually brought his calorie count down to 2,000 daily  He feels less tired and less susceptible to heart conditions

 Being able to follow a theory model is a lot easier than trying to change on your own  The Health Belief Model was easiest to explain  The articles helped learn some tactics on weight loss and healthy eating  I learned that I can exercise and eat healthy while helping someone else get healthier
