What is an iROC? Research focused program Collaboration between Library and Division of Natural Sciences Presenters include faculty, students and community members Held twice monthly Last iROC of each semester is a student poster presentation session iROC: Investigating Research on Campus

How the iROCs Came to Be

Division of Natural Sciences created the program Library Director took initiative and asked to be involved Be diligent in pursuing opportunities It took a couple of communications, but the library has now been the home of the iROC for nearly 10 years

What the iROCs First Looked Like Developed by Natural Sciences for undergrads to showcase faculty/student research Barbara Petruzzelli, Library Director, heard about this and wanted to co- sponsor Research-focused Assists faculty in presentations Library staff able to give attention to details

Problems & Solutions Unfamiliarity with iROCs Faculty meetings Marketing plan Faculty r esearch was not emphasized on campus Research became integral with the positions Current perception of iROCs Now very prestigious Buy-in from VPAA Cookies and drinks

Changes Made Space New library Event space Library gained control Allowed students to study without being mixed in with special event Time Lunchtime iROCs added due to new space Café in new event space New day and time added (Monday at 12p) after polling faculty and looking at Registrar’s schedules

Gaining Attendance & Inter est Faculty Supporting one another/Encouraging students Able to add presentations to faculty data forms Allows them to showcase classes Students Get credit for class Fulfill First Year Experience credit requirements Greater understanding of faculty research
