Question 1: How do we define the personality traits of a hero? Heroes are uncompromising in their values. They give their all to a loosing fight.

Question 2: How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of literary heroes? Atticus would not have reason to become a hero without society’s discrimination against the Black community.

Question 3: How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society? Atticus fights his society on the issue of race.

Question 4: How does a hero represent his/her time period and geographical area? Atticus literally represents his county in the state congress.

Question 5: How do various cultures reward or recognize their heroes? They reward their heroes with fame and fortune.

Question 6: How does Atticus' heroism as a lawyer make his life difficult? Public opinion is against Atticus for representing Tom Robinson. He barely escaped a lynching mob before the trial. He has to stop scout from fighting people for calling Atticus n word lover.

Question 7:WHAT are Atticus’ reasons for defending Tom Robinson? Atticus defends Tom because he believes everyone should have a right to competent defense even if he suffers for it.
