Our line of work is dangerous by the sheer nature of it!

High Risk Environment With my 30 plus years of experience in the towing business, I have found that the everyday towing needs can be more dangerous than a wreck scene with all first responders in attendance. This is due to not having traffic control by law enforcement which leaves our employees in a high risk environment. With this being said, Roberts has implemented “Safe Towing Best Practices” to better protect our employees and the motoring public.

Towing Best Practices  Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)  High Visibility Vest  Company Uniforms  Work Boots  Gloves  Take customers out of harms way  Ensure customers are not exposed to traffic hazards  Keep customers in out of the elements  Loading vehicles in high traffic areas  Limit time employees are exposed to passing traffic  Secure on passenger side of vehicle only, stay out of traffic lane

 Proper securement of vehicles  Only secure vehicles on opposite side of traffic and then move vehicle off roadway to a safe place. Finish securing vehicle in (4) points before transporting  No tire changes on roadsides  Tow vehicle to a safe place where employees are not exposed to traffic before performing any tire changes Safe Towing Best Practices

Using The Right Equipment  Light Duty Towing Vehicles  Auto Load Wheel Lift Systems  Recovery Booms  Carriers (Rollbacks) with wheel lifts  Medium Duty Towing Vehicles  Wheel Lift Systems  Recovery Booms  Heavy Duty Towing Vehicles  Wheel Lift Systems  Rotators  Sliding axle trailers & lowboy trailers

Using the right equipment To keep traffic lanes open I-75 Vehicle Path From Interstate (2) Rotators on secondary road engaged in recovery of the rolled tractor trailer.

Use of a (2) Rotators to upright a tanker & tractor on I64 West Bound. Left traffic lane was able to remain open while recovery operations took place.

Use of (2) Rotators to bring tractor trailer back onto roadway. Once again, left traffic lane was able to remain open while recovery operations took place.

Training With Fire Departments  Stabilization techniques for different heavy vehicle types when extracting victims:  Tankers  Mixers  Dump Trucks

Proactive in our community to help establish & provide safe towing and recovery practices  Attending local government traffic safety coalition meetings.  Post accident meetings with local first responders on major incidents.  In house training on:  Towing  Recovery  Communication with local authorities
