What is editing?

Why do we edit? Fix spelling Improve the fluency of sentences- make them flow better- minimize fragments and run-ons Give ideas and suggestions Help the writer to understand what you see as a reader. Make sure the writer is meeting the criteria of the assignment.

Peer Revising/ Editing Process 1.Circle all of the adjectives in your partner’s writing. 2.Star one or two strong lines. 3.Give the writer a compliment. 4.Ask the writer two questions that will help generate new ideas. 5.Make a suggestion.

Questions to consider Who is the audience and what will they want to know? Runner *Describe the bottom of the shoe, traction *What are the materials and why are they effective? *What special features does it include? *Is it versatile?

Final Draft Your final draft is due on Monday. Make sure that it is typed and that it is at least 250 words long. I am grading word choice so really work on strengthening the words you use. Be precise and choose words that will appeal to your audience’s emotions as well as inform them about the shoe’s features.
