Presentation on Female Education in Bangladesh

 What is beautiful and useful in the world are equally done by men women  Napoleon said, ’Give me a good mother and I shall give you a good nation’  An educated woman is a good mother, a good wife and a good nation- builder. Considering all these, female education should be made compulsory for all by taking necessary steps. For example, early marriage has to be stopped. Social barriers must be removed.

Gender Differences  58 percent of male attended school  25 percent of males of all ages, who complete the secondary level, move on to the postsecondary level  only 41 percent of female attended school  23 percent of females of all ages, who complete the secondary level, move on to the postsecondary level

Bangladesh education statistics  There are approx. 19 million primary school-aged children in Bangladesh  Around three million children miss out on primary education as a result of poverty. About 1.5 million of these are girls  Only an estimated 9.4 per cent of slum areas have primary schools within their reach

Bangladesh education statistics  A lack of female teachers; inadequate school materials; classroom environments not conducive to girls; families living far from schools

Key Strategies  Promoting girls’ education and empowerment in national policies  Improving the quality of and access to formal primary education  Promotion of multi-dimensional and cross- sectored approaches  Promotion of girls’ education at every stage of the life cycle  Promotion of girls’ participation and empowerment  Inclusion of boys  Monitoring of progress
