Learning Targets: Teachers will understand their individual responsibilities in regards to the new evaluation components and teaching standards.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND EVALUATION PROCESS OBSERVATIONS CONFERENCES Pre/Mid/Post OTHER LINES OF EVIDENCE GRANITE SCHOOL DISTRICT’S PROFESSIONAL GROWTH PLAN SELF ASSESSMENT PERFORMANCE GOALS PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SUPERVISOR EVALUATION + + = STUDENT GROWTH (required line of evidence) STAKEHOLDER INPUT ( required line of evidence) INSTRUCTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS EDUCATOR RATING 1-4

SUMMATIVE EVALUATION IS: using data to assess the effectiveness and quality of performance, to determine the future employment status of the educator. Carl Glickman

TOOLS The Granite School District Educator Standards tool is the required and only summative tool.

SUPPORTING DATA Your administrator must have data to support what they mark and recorded on the GSD Educator Summative Evaluation Summary?

SUMMATIVE DECISIONS Good summative judgments come from multiple sources including but not limited to: Observational data Conversations Student Interactions Collaboration with other teachers Stakeholder interactions Student growth data Office Referrals Parent Complaints

A WORD OF CAUTION Data does not replace the need for face-to-face dialogue.

OBSERVATIONS Conduct observations - two observations are required (20 minute minimum) An in-person meeting must be held to debrief each observation. Observational information shared with the educator during the debriefing provides the educator the opportunity to produce lines of evidence during or before the subsequent GSD Educator Summative Evaluation Summary meeting.

GSD EDUCATOR SUMMATIVE EVALUATION SUMMARY MEETING A separate in-person meeting is required to conduct a GSD Educator Summative Evaluation Summary. DO NOT FINALIZE A GSD Educator Summative Evaluation Summary prior to meeting with the educator and considering educator provided lines of evidence.

POST CONFERENCE ON A SUMMATIVE EVALUATION Principal should show you your summative evaluation on the actual teaching standards so you can discuss and show them lines of evidence for indicators you may have a question about. You should review all of the standards and you should specifically ask to be able to provide data/other lines of evidence on any and all standards you have a score of a 1 or 2. Discuss having the scores below a 3 changed only if you have data to share. Principal will then finalize the evaluation and give you a copy. You will be asked to sign the evaluation. DO NOT SIGN IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH IT. DO NOT SIGN IT IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW OTHER LINES OF EVIDENCE.

BAD EVALUATION? CALL GEA IF YOUR ARE A MEMBER In order to challenge your evaluation you must first exhaust all administrative remedies. That means you file an appeal of your evaluation. GEA is here to help you with that process.
