Does it match your potential program(s)? -Really interested in working with children and youth -Interested in historical content specifically Canadian and American -Can see herself as a teacher; particularly J/I or I/S teacher -Also interested in business or business related courses -Can see herself as an entrepreneur - What are you good at doing? Does your strength(s) reflect your program(s) choice? -Good at writing especially essays and critical thinking which goes hand in hand with being a HIST major -Enjoys business-related courses but does not excel in them like she does in History courses -Seems to like math, analyzing, problem solving, and precision PROGRAM: - Does your program match your career aspirations? -Can see herself being a teacher so if I major in HIST, I can be a History teacher -Majoring in ADMS will help her learn the business field and become an entrepreneur - Do you have/know the requirements to get into this program? -Just needs the GPA (4.0 = C or 5.0 = C+) -Needs 4U Advanced Function from high school -5.0 GPA or higher

Program Choice #1: HISTORY Program Choice #2: ADMINISTRATIVE STUDIES - Have you researched the number of credits needed for your program? If so, is it realistic for you to obtain? -Will need 120 credits for Honours and will need 90 credits for BA Ordinary -It is realistic to obtain -Will need 90 credits for just ADMS, but 120 credits if she decides to declare a stream -It is realistic to obtain COURSES: - Examine your FW timetable. How do you feel about the 1 st year course? -Student is taking HIST : Growing Up in North America and is loving it -Student took ADMS : Introduction to Administrative Studies in the Fall term and struggled with content -Student is currently taking ADMS : Exploring the Functions of Business and is enjoying this course more - Have you looked at the upper-level course selection? If so, are they appealing to you? -Student is attracted to the idea that as a HIST major there is no specific courses; can concentrate on the area that she finds most interesting (i.e. North American History) -ADMS is more specific -This program consists of the majority of your credits being in the major -Not a lot of opportunity for free choice credits (electives) OTHER: - Are you interested in more than 2 programs? If so, can you pursue your other interest in electives? -Student wants to do language courses in Spanish/French/Italian and can include this in her course selection as a HIST major -Can do various certificates -Can still include language courses in her outside major credits but will be limited as to how many she can take -Can only do 1 certificate in 1 language - And/or can you pursue your other interests elsewhere? -Student can take languages at her local community centre but is limited with time

Program Choice #1: HISTORY Program Choice #2: ADMINISTRATIVE STUDIES OVERALL: - On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being that you are extremely interested and 1 being that you are not, how interested are you in this program(s)? What were your Fall grades like? How do you think you’ll do in the Winter term? -Student has been excelling in her HIST course and is confident she will do well in the remainder of the term -Student struggled with ADMS , but is grasping the content of ADMS better FINAL REALITY CHECK: - If this program is right for you, do you have the time and financial resources needed to complete it? -Student is young and parents are paying for tuition so she does have the financial resource to complete this program -Student is young and parents are paying for tuition so she does have the financial resource to complete this program - Have you spoken to people who are in your interested field to figure out if this program will prepare you for that field? -Student has spoken to the Undergraduate Program Director (UPD) in HIST, as well as current students in the program -Student has spoken to the UPD in ADMS and current upper-year level students - What will be your major? -Student has decided to do a MM in HIST and BUSI ( = 120 credits) - This decision will allow student to do both her passions, become an I/S teacher, and do language courses.
