Returning Patient Information Needed Full Name of Patient Date of Birth Verify that the Patient is in the System When the Patient Wants to Pick Up the Script

Searching for a Patient Click on “Patients” on the home page of the computer system Enter either the patient’s name, date of birth, or both Verify you have selected the correct patient Double click on the patient’s name to open their profile

Updating Patient Information Follow the information on how to search for a patient found herehere After opening a patient’s profile you can click “Edit Information” on the bottom right of the screen The profile is now able to be edited and must be saved afterwards by clicking the “Update Information” tab on the bottom right

Reflection I chose this topic because I have been researching why there is no universal patient database that can easily and effectively identify patients. If something like this were in place then all of these steps that go into prescriptions just at drop-off would turn into one simple step. This could turn into a patient simply dropping off their script with their assigned ID number or something along those lines and all the information would already be there. However, something like that is not yet created or even in progress so this document is to help clarify the drop-off process in retail pharmacy. This is addressed towards employees in a pharmacy all the way from technicians to pharmacists. At some point everyone in the pharmacy has to handle drop off and this is a quick guide on how to get all the necessary information. The employees need to efficiently be able to deal with drop-off and pull patient’s profiles up or enter them into the system. Any problems that can be encountered while doing this are also included. It is an easy guide to navigate and understand and you can quickly get to the tabs you want by using the table of contents. This suits the needs of employees well as they need to be able to do these things swiftly. This document could be most useful as an online training guide that employees can access at anytime while at work. On my Co-op at Rite Aid we had CBT’s, or computer based training programs that taught us about the laws in pharmacy and the types of drugs along with many other things. I believe this could be used as sort of a CBT. These programs had to be completed and were always accessible after completion. This is what I believe would be best for this. If every employee had to view or complete this PowerPoint they would have a much better understanding of drop off before they started their job. Also, if it always stayed easily accessible the quick tabs on the table of contents will help the employees get to the section they need without having to go through the whole presentation which saves time and will not hurt work flow.

Professional Portfolio Note I believe this would be a good fit in my professional portfolio. I believe it shows an understanding of the field I am in and when compared to my last project it shows how I can relate to different audiences.
