Objectives Morning Session Understand how word processing can be used to support literacy Become familiar with Microsoft Word 2007 Create a literacy resource using Word 2007 Afternoon Session Create classroom certificates and other classroom resources Understand the basics of file management Create a file management structure for participants’ own laptop Discuss how the above tools can support literacy Discuss how the above tools can support assessment © NCTE 2011

Activity – Word Processing for Literacy Consider how you could use word processing to support literacy in your classroom. Drafting, redrafting and editing Producing classroom publications Enhancing presentation of pupils’ work Creation of worksheets and other resources Please refer to pg 8 of the NCTE course manual for more ideas How you would like to develop skills in this area? © NCTE 2011

Activity – Creative Uses for Word Using the tools covered, create a resource for the class level which you teach. It could be any of the following or another resource which you would like to create: Certificate Homework voucher Timetable Table containing childrens’ names Word box containing words from the class reader © NCTE 2011

Introduction to File Management Why use File Management? Please refer to page 34 of the NCTE course manual for discussion on file management Suggest how you might organise your files for literacy or numeracy for your particular class level © NCTE 2011
