PURPOSE Students will: complete a quick lab for displaying safety and sanitation practices and following directions

RESEARCH EQUIPMENT and INGREDIENTS 1 large mug, microwave safe Ingredients for cake (see below) VANILLA 4 TABLESPOONS FLOUR 1 EGG 4 TABLESPOONS SUGAR 3 TABLESPOONS MILK 1/8 TEASPOON SALT 3 TABLESPOONS OIL ¼ TEASPOON VANILLA

ADD ALL DRY INGREDIENTS TOGETHER IN A MUG. MIX WELL (A FORK WORKS GREAT FOR MIXING). ADD THE EGG, MILK, OIL AND VANILLA TO THE DRY INGREDIENTS AND STIR WELL TO MIX. PLACE THE MUG INTO THE MICROWAVE AND COOK FOR 3 MINUTES ON HIGH. CAKE WILL RISE ABOVE THE MUG. DON’T BE ALARMED. DO NOT OPEN THE MICROWAVE DOOR. LET THE CAKE REST FOR 3 MINUTES AFTER THE COOKING TIME. REMOVE FROM THE MICROWAVE AND TIP OUT OF THE MUG ONTO A PLATE, SLICE AND ENJOY. OPTIONAL 2 TABLESPOONS COCOA POWDER 3TABLESPOONS CHOCOLATE CHIPS
