REFLECT EXISTING PRACTICE IT HAS BEEN HISTORICALLY DIFFICULT TO QUANTIFY THE RANGE OF DUTIES AND INTERACTIONS UNDERTAKEN BY NURSES IN THEIR DUTIES THE ROPER-LOGAN-TIERNEY MODEL USED IN CARRAIG MOR WAS DEEMED INEFFECTIVE IN RECORDING NURSES’ DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES AND INTERACTIONS

REFLECT EXISTING PRACTICE THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF THE CARRAIG MÓR CARE PLAN – WAS TO RECORD EXISTING GOOD PRACTICE ON THE UNIT.

PROMOTE COLLABORATIVE CARE PLANNING TO INVOLVE PATIENTS IN THEIR OWN CARE TO SUPPORT PATIENTS WITH GOAL SETTING ALLOWS PATIENTS TO ASSESS WHAT STAFF CAN OFFER TOWARDS THEIR RECOVERY ALLOWS PATIENTS TO ASSIST IN THEIR OWN CARE PLANNING

REFLECT EXISTING PRACTICE LAY OUT IN A USER FRIENDLY FROM – QUESTION AND ANSWER FORMAT – OBJECTIVE AND SUBJECTIVE INFORMATION RECORDED – INCLUDES THE PATIENTS OWN LIFE EXPERIENCES

DEVELOP THERAPEUTIC NURSE- PATIENT RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE COLLABORATIVE APPROACH THE NURSE AND PATIENT SPEND MORE TIME TOGETHER THIS IN TURN PROMOTES A THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP POSITIVE WORKING ENVIRONMENT MAY REDUCE THE RISK OF INCIDENTS

PROMOTE RESEARCH BASED PRACTICE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CARRAIG MÓR CARE PLAN INVOLVED THE USE OF – CURRENT LITERATURE – RESEARCH BASED DATA – RESEARCH BASED PRACTICE – ALL INFORMATION SOURCED RECEIVED PERMISSION FROM THE CURRENT NURSING THEORISTS

OPTIMISE PATIENT RECOVERY THE COMMITTEE UNDERTOOK THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CARRAIG MŌR CARE PLAN WITH THE EXPRESSED HOPE OF – IMPROVING PATIENT CARE – PROMOTING A COLLABORATIVE CARE ENVIRONMENT
