DISTANCES AND CONNECTIVITY Addressing the issue of DISTANCES AND CONNECTIVITY I have choose this work because we find interesting the scheme classifying spaces at different distances and how to get to them (although it would be interesting to know if this is a real analysis or an outline of the "optimal solution"). Depending on what is it based, the classification is probably subjective and personal to each inhabitant. To answer some of the question probably there are not a only solution so it can be useful for a starting point for a deeper analysis.

Distances and connectivity : a multi-scale approach How distances and connectivity are undermined in urban context?

Efruz Quarter-Nicosia

The process of change in these concepts thorough years. What was the meaning of distance or connectivity for those who lived hundred years ago? For sure they evaluate distance phenomenon with visual concepts and natural issues. So they could estimate the distances with the distance between mountains or valleys. And this distances were consider as maximum distances for them because it was to hard to pass through mountains or go from one village to another. The meaning of connectivity and distance was so limited. They may move from their village restrict once in year. Their connectivity were just turning around themselves. Connectivity and distance are old concepts and have changed by technology, and become more rapid and more easy, now it have a virtual meaning. These concepts have caused to the growth of other concepts like marginality, which is one of the main and important problems of developing countries in the present time. Each person is in relation with other person and this connections are in connection with another communities, as time passes these colony of communities become bigger and make connection with another bigger community., and this relation is endless and will never stop. This big community can be a metropolitan. How technology has changed the meaning of distance technology came and change the meaning of distance and connectivity, between people, cities, countries and…etc. distances became shorter and connectivity became more rapid than before.
