Science 204 Animals

How do we group animals? Scientist group or classify animals into 2 categories. The first is called animals with backbones such as humans because we have bones to give us movement.

The second is called animals with no backbones such as jellyfish, shrimps and squids.

Can you think of animals with backbones ?

Here are some Mammals- dogs, cats and panda’s This is a red fox. Mammals

Mammals that lay eggs ! Oh my!

Platypus

Do you know any other weird mammals that lay eggs?

Fish Whales and Sharks (remember even though they depend though they depend on the ocean as a on the ocean as a habitat these are mammals because they give birth to its young) they give birth to its young)

Reptiles- Alligators

Birds- Pigeons

Can you think of animals with no backbone?

Here are some Fish- Starfish, shrimps, squids and jellyfish. Insects- ants, ladybug, centipede (however they do have a hard outer shell to protect them in the habitat that they live in.)

Some cool animals with no backbones!
