8K Light Homework Please get your planners out. Homework is to complete the extended question sheet provided. Your answer should be detailed and should attempt to answer the question.
8K Light What is diffusion? Diffusion is the random movement of particles. When particles diffuse, they spread out and mix with other particles. For example, the smell of aftershave or perfume can be detected by people on the other side of a room because the perfume particles diffuse in the air. Can you think of some more everyday examples of diffusion?

8K Light Practice Demonstration of Potassium permanganate in water. Describe what happens? Explain why you think it happens? Do you thin temperature would have an effect on the experiment?
8K Light Diffusion and temperature
8K Light Diffusion in liquids and gases Which will diffuse faster, a gas or a liquid? The particles of a gas will diffuse faster. Why? The gas particles are moving around faster than the particles in a liquid because they have more energy. This means that the gas particles will spread out more quickly.
8K Light Questions 1) Describe what happened to the potassium permanganate when mixed with a higher temperature water ? 2) Explain how a smell gets from one room to another ? 3) Name 3 everyday uses of Diffusion
